A. Use Windows Media Player to transfer songs to the iFP player
1. This step is critical. Music downloaded from a service must be transferred to the iFP player using Windows Media Player. Files transferred to the iFP player using any other software (ie. iRiver Music Manager) will not play properly click here to learn why.

B. If you are encountering an "Unexpected error" or similar error message when using Windows Media Player to transfer songs to your iRiver player, read the following information to resolve.
There are several patches that can resolve this issue. First, try this patch from iRiver.
Download the file at the link and follow the directions below carefully.

- Close iRiver Music Manager and Windows Media Player
- Disconnect any iRiver devices from your computer.
- Download the file above and save it to your desktop.
- Double click the file, then click "Unzip". This will install the patch.
- Click "Close" to exit.
- Reconnect the iFP player to your computer and power it on.
- Open Windows Media Player and try to transfer your purchased music files again.
If the issue is still not resolved, it may be necessary to install one of the following Windows Media Player patches from Microsoft.com. Click the link for the version that matches your version of Windows.
For Windows 98 SE and Me
For Windows 2000
These updates are not picked up by the "Automatic" updating in Windows or Windows Media Player, so they must be manually downloaded and installed.
