Using Windows Media Player 11 to transfer music to your iriver player

To check the version of Windows Media Player you are using, open Windows Media Player. If you don't know where to find it, click on the Start menu and select All Programs, Accessories, Entertainment, Windows Media Player. Click on Help, located on the menu bar at the top left of Windows Media Player. Choose "About Windows Media Player". A small window with information will pop up, like the one pictured below:

1. Open Windows Media Player and connect you portable music player to your PC. If you are connecting your player for the first time the Device Setup Wizard will appear asking you to provide a name for your portable music player. NOTE: When you connect a device for the first time, the Windows Media Player selects the sync method (automatic or manual) that works best for your device, depending on the device's storage capacity and the size of your library. If the storage capacity of your device is more than 4 gigabytes (GB) and your entire library can fit on the device, the Player automatically syncs your entire library to your device. Then, every time you connect your device to your computer in the future, the Player updates the device to mirror your library. If the storage capacity of your device is less than 4 GB or if your entire library will not fit on the device, Windows Media Player selects manual sync. With manual sync, you select the files or playlists you want to sync to your device. The following illustration shows a manual sync page.
   
   
   
   
   
   
2. (Assuming less than 4GB device) Click Finish.
   
   
   
   
   
   
3. In Windows Media Player, click the Sync tab.
   
   
   
   
   
   
4. Your device will be pictured above the new Sync List.
   
   
   
   
   
   
5. On the far left side of the screen, select the songs, albums or playlists you want on your device and drag them to the Sync List column on the right.
   
   
   
   
   
   
6. When you have built your list to your satisfaction, click the Start Sync button at the bottom right corner of the screen.
   
   
   
   
   
   
7. When your music is done copying, you can disconnect your portable music player and enjoy your music.
