PMP-100 Series FAQ

Q: I can't get the iRiver Media Converter to install, it is not accepting my Serial Number (S/N), how can I install it? A:
  • Use the S/N for the iRiver Media Converter software, not the serial number on the player itself.
  • This S/N should be located on the CD jacket.
  • If the S/N is not on the CD jacket, then it will be on a separate card that was inserted into the box.
  • You may have to remove all box contents including separating the inner box from the outer box to locate this card. TRUST US, IT'S IN THERE!
Q: Ok, I found the Serial Number (S/N), but the software still is not working. Now what?
A: The S/N must be entered exactly as it is listed on the sticker including capital letters and dashes. Some numbers may look like letters, so double check the zeros and make sure to use the number "0" (zero) not the letter "O".

Q: I receive errors when trying to install iRiver Media Converter, how can I get past this?
A: iRiver Media Converter interacts with other programs, if one of the programs is missing or an older version, error messages may result. Make sure you have the following installed, then re-install iRiver Media Converter: Q: Where can I get digital video files?
A: There are many way to get video files for you PMP. Please visit http://www.iriveramerica.com/pmpinfo/ for details on getting video files for your player.

Q: Some video files I have don't play, but they are .AVI files?
A: Not all AVI files are created equal. There are dozens of formats that will still say AVI yet are not compatible with the PMP. Use the iRiver Media Converter to optimize your video files prior to loading them on your player. iRiver recommends using a card reader (available at most electronics stores to fit most digital camera memory cards) to transfer camera pictures to the PMP.

Q: A warming message stating "Incompatible Format" displays, but the video still plays, how can I make this message go away?
A: To resolve this use the iRiver Media Converter to optimize the file for your PMP. If the video plays properly, it is not required to convert it, but the error message may still appear.

Q: The audio is not in sync with the video during playback, how can this be resolved?
A: Audio being out of sync with the video is a very common issue with digital video. We have found that using the iRiver Multimedia Converter to optimize your video files will resolve out of sync issues in many cases. Otherwise, the video file may be flawed from the source. Please consult the source of the video file to resolve sync issues.

Q: There are audio or video defects during playback, how can this be fixed?
A: General quality issues (sound/video) - Most sound and video playback quality issues are a result of imperfect source files. Try using the iRiver Media Converter software to optimize the files otherwise, acquire higher quality video from the source.

Q: Can the PMP record video?
A: The PMP has only audio recording abilities, it can not record video.
