SlimX & ChromeX FAQ
Q. The AA & NiMh flat batteries do not last for 23 hours as indicated in the manual, it runs out quickly.
A. A new rechargeable battery does not show its performance to the full. It shows its best performance only after several times of charge and discharge. If you use a new rechargeable battery, charge and discharge several times and check its lifetime again.
Another reason for quick wearing out of a battery is poor environment. If you use batteries at the cold place where the temperature is below 10º. C, the efficiency of battery can drop down. It is reported that its performance shows about 80 percent under 10º. C temperature and 50 percent under 0º. C temperature. The best temperature for the battery is between 18º. C and 30º. C.
Q. The player shuts down when it is connecting or disconnecting with an adapter while using a battery.
A. It is normal because it is designed in order to save the lifetime of battery. If you connect the adapter while using a battery, then the power is now supplied from adapter not from battery, so the unit shuts down. It is same for the opposite case when you disconnect the adapter while using a battery. We recommend that you shut down the unit by pressing STOP button before connecting or disconnecting the adapter, and turn it on again by pressing PLAY button after connecting or disconnecting.
*Note : Imp-350 resumes the song at the point that it was stopped even after power on if RESUME is set to ON.
Q. Does the iMP-350 have rechargeable function?
A. Yes, the NiMH flat batteries used with the iMP-350 are rechargeable batteries. Please see the About Button Operation section for activating the recharge and discharge modes.
Q. There is no battery indicator on the unit. Is it defective?
A. No, the battery indicator on the iMP series CD players appears when a battery is running low. We include this feature just to alert you to this condition, not to indicate overall battery life. Also, the battery indicator does not appear always when using AC power.
Q. Is there any way that you can plug the IMP-350 directly into the pc with a USB cable?
A. At this time, the IMP-350 does not support USB connection.
Q.Can you connect the iMP-350 to stereo speakers?
A. Yes, you can connect the iMP-350 to stereo speakers using the Line Out terminal on the player. For quality sound, we recommend that you put the player volume on maximum level.
Q. Can I use the iMP-350 and the iMP-150 overseas?
The iMP-350 sold in North America is equipped to support North American FM frequencies only. Also, both the iMP-350 and the iMP-150 sold in North America use 110v adaptors. To use either player outside of North America, you must use an iRiver 220v adaptor as most countries outside of North America utilize 220v outlets (keep in mind with the iMP-350 that you will not be able to pick up any FM frequencies). If you use a 110v adaptor on either player and plug it into a 220v outlet, the player will malfunction and iRiver and iRiver America do not accept responsibility for damages incurred by the user due to misuse or improper handling. To purchase an iRiver 220v adaptor, or to order the European version of the iMP-350 that supports European FM frequencies, please contact cs@iriver.com.
Q. Will the iMP-350 SlimX operate without the external battery pack, or is it required?
A. The iMP-350 SlimX can run by itself on the flat batteries only. The approximate playing time on the flat batteries only is 10 hours for MP3 files and 7-8 hours for regular audio CDs. The two AA batteries, when used in conjunction with the flat, NiMH batteries, help increase playtime to approximately 23 hours for MP3 files. Also, they act as a backup when the flat, NiMH batteries run down.
