Performing a Firmware upgrade on iMP-Players
*Please Note: The following Firmware upgrade example was created using version 2.20 with the iMP-350. The following instructions below apply to a Firmware upgrade for all iMP-Players regardless of Firmware version.
- Download the firmware upgrade to your hard-drive. When you download the Zipped file, it will appear as below:
- Once the file has been downloaded, open the Zipped file and extract (un-zip) the contents. This will create a .EXE file as shown below:
- Double Click on the EXE file, and the following prompt will be shown:
- Click the "iRiver Firmware Upgrade" button to create the HEX file. The HEX file will be created in the same location as the EXE file.
The HEX file contains the data for upgrading the Firmware, and it is this file that will be copied onto CD. The HEX file will appear as below:
- Copy the "iMP-xxx.hex" file onto a blank CD-R disc or CD-RW disc. Please ensure that you copy the file at a rate speed of 1-4X as this will ensure that the file can be read / processed properly by the iMP Player.
- Once the CD has been created, place it into your Player, and press the Play button to power on your Player.
The LCD will display the iRiver logo and the "Power On" message. You will then see the current firmware version number that is currently on your Player, and then the player will automatically start the upgrade and the message "iRiver Firmware Upgrade. Don't touch during firmware upgrade" will appear. The player will automatically power off after the upgrade has been performed. The whole process should take less than 1 minute.
- Remove and the firmware upgrade CD from your player and enjoy.
